Khajuraho City Guide

Khajuraho is a small town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India having the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples. Khajuraho temples are well known for intricately carved out stone sculptures on the wall in erotic poses. UNESO has declared Khajuraho group of monuments as World Heritage Site. It is also considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of India.

Built in 9th to 12th century Khajuraho temples are depict the architectural brilliance during the times of Chandela Dynasty. The exteriors of the temples bear erotic art or sculptures in sensuous poses. There are no any erotic art or structure inside the temple or near the deity. Khajuraho temples are divided into three groups namely, the Eastern Group, the Western Group and the Southern Group. Travelers from all over the world visit Khajuraho to explore its architecturally beautiful temples.

Beside temples attractions Khajuraho is also a popular destination of wildlife enthusiasts. Only a 30 minute drive from Khajuraho takes tourists to the world famous Panna National Park & Tiger Reserve. The park comprises deep gorges, scenic valley and dense teak forests. The park is rich in its flora and fauna. Visitors can see animals like tigers, leopards, wolves, crocodiles, wild boars, spotted deer, Indian foxes, and many other animals and different species of birds.

Eastern Group Temple Complex:
contains Parshvanath Temple, Ghantai Temple, Adinath Temple, Brahma Temple,Query Javari Temple, and Vamana Temple.

Western Group Temple Complex:
contains Vishwanatha Temple, Lakshmana Temple, Matangeshwara Temple, Chitragupta Temple, Kandariya Mahadeo, Chaunsath Yogini, etc.

Southern Group Temple Complex:
Duladeo Temple, Chuturbhuja Temple

Panna National Park:
Tigers, Leopards, Monkeys, Langurs, Wolves, Indian Foxes, Cheetals, Wild Boars, Ghariyals, etc.

How to Reach Khajuraho :-

By Air:
Khajuraho TempleKhajuraho has domestic airport. It is well connected with cities like Agra, Varanasi and Kathmandu by daily flights.

By Train:
Mahoba, Satna and Jhansi are nearest railway station to reach in Khajuraho. All of these stations are connected wit major cities of India.

By Road:
Khajuraho is well-connected by roads with cities like Agra, Gwalior, Jhansi, Jabalpur, Satna, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, Agra, Delhi, etc.
