General Overview

Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh, a multicultural city.Imambara Historically it is known as the Awadh. Famous for Courtly Manners (Tahzeeb), Beautiful Gardens, Qauwwali, Chikankari Embroidery, Kabobs, Poetry, Music, and Fine Cuisine patronized by the Nawabs. Lucknow is popularly known as the The City of Nawabs. It is also known as the Golden City of the East, Shiraz-i-Hind and The Constantinople of India.Lucknow also an emerging hub for producers of goods and services with very promising potential. Lucknow has been a mandi town of mangoes, melons, and grains grown in the surrounding areas. Sugarcane-growing plantations and sugar industries are also in close proximity. This attracted Mohan Meakin Brewery to set up a unit based on molasses in the city. Meakins was incorporated in 1855 and is Asia's first commercial brewery.

Lucknow is a wonderful place and can be visited just about anytime through the year.Query However, the best time to visit Lucknow is usually from October to March. This is usually the peak season for Lucknow travel. The weather in Lucknow varies from time to time and there are some extremities in the climatic conditions also. Although there is no answer as such for describing the ideal time to visit Lucknow, one usually visits Lucknow during the months of October to March.

Bara Imambara
Built by Nawab Asafuddaula to provide relief to his subjects during the famine of 1784The splendour of this edifice is a reminder of the past glory of Nawab of Oudh. The Imambara is famous for its simplicity, proportion symmetry and its fascinating architecture. It is unique for the absence of pillars or supports in the main hall, which stands 50 feet tall. The piece of architecture is also known for its spectacular intricate arrangements.

Shah Najaf Imambara
Sukhna lake an artificial, manmade Chhota Imambaralake spread over 3 square kilometers on the northern border of Lucknow is beautifully located with mountains and reserve forest land in its backgroundThe lake was created by the architect Le Corbusier in 1958 by diverting the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream that flows down the Shivalik mountain ranges. The tree-shaded shores is a favorite spot for strolling and bird watching . It is a sanctuary for many exotic migratory birds and from December through February, one can see many species of aquatic birds from Central Asia and Siberia. Sukhna lake has facility for paddle boats and yachting and is the venue of the Asian rowing championships.

Jama Masjid
This grand mosquewas built by Muhammad Ali Shah in typical Mughal style with tall minarets and onion-shaped domes.

Rumi Darwaza
Just beyond Bara Imambara is the ornamental gateway, built by Nawab Asafuddaula in 1784. The gate is ornated with beautiful intricate designs from the base to the top

How to reach:-

Air
Lucknow can be easily reached by air as the place has its own independent airport. The airport at Lucknow is located at a distance of around 14 kilometers from the city center at a place called Amausi.Flights operate from Amausi to nearby places like Delhi,Patna, Ranchi and also other cities like Mumbai.

Rail
Lucknow is linked with its principal gateway city, Delhi. Lucknow railway station is 8km from the city centre in Sector 17. Shatabdi Express and Himalayan Queen provide two train connections every day between Lucknow and Delhi. Paschim Express connects the city to Mumbai. Food served on the train is included in the fare.Other important and long distance trains are also connected from various Queryparts of the country.

Roads
Lucknow can be easily reached from Delhi, Kanpur, Agra, Allahbad and Dehradun. Highways from all these places connect them with Lucknow. The major highways passing through Lucknow are N.H. - 25, N.H. - 28 and N.H. - 56.

Garden LucknowLucknow chikan is perhaps one of the finest works of embroidery that one can find here in India. It is known for its exquisite style and fine needlework and is unparalleled when it comes to refinement. The Mughal queen Noor Jehan revived this style in 655 A.D. in India. Lucknowi Chikan Kari gained an entirely new look as it was much preferred and supported by the Mughal rulers. This lead to further refinement and improvement of the Lucknow Chikan embroidery work. Today, Lucknowi chikan Kari is synonymous with fashion and is worn by almost every celebrity at least once.
