Mathura City Guide

Mathura is a historical and sacred city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Situated on the western bank of the river Yamuna, the holy city of Mathura is supposed to be the birth place of lord Krishna at the centre of Braj called Brajbhoomi or Krishnajanmaboomi. It is the holy place where Lord Krishna born and spend his youth.

There is an ancient temple called Keshav Dev Temple (Krishna Janmabhoomi VrindavanTemple) on the site of Krishna Birthplace. The temple is one of the must visit attractions of Mathura. In fact, Mathura and Krishna are inseparable because it is the place where Lord spent his childhood, youth and also the last year of his life. Dwarkadhish Temple is another important temple attraction in Mathura which is visited by a number of tourists round the year. Devotees and tourists from all over the world visit Mathura and explore the spiritual charm of the city. Tourists can also visit Vrindavan situated at the short distance of 15 km away from Mathura. Vrindavan is also associated with Lord Krishna and known for numerous temples.
